The Green Owls student collective was founded in 2017 at the School of General Studies at Columbia University. We are a group of “self-reflective owls” that love to engage each other, special guests, and the Columbia community in discussion on intersectional and critical environmental topics. We also collaborate with ally groups and participate in community building initiatives between discussions.

Next up, Tuesday 4/02 at 7:30-9pm: Film ScreeningPandora’s Promise (leading up to critical discussion with Ecocriticism Professor Marylin Ivy on Earth Day). More TBA. Sign up for announcements at: Action Network Sign-Up

“Power is not brute force and money; power is in your spirit. Power is in your soul. It is what your ancestors, your old people gave you. Power is in the earth; it is in your relationship with the earth.” ~ Winona LaDuke, Native American rights activist, environmentalist, economist, author, and defender of Indigenous land claims.
